Here's what the normal patterns for a 5 month old look like:
- Awake windows of 2h-3h
- Typical night wakes of 1-3 times
- Naps are 3-4 a day
- Naps are anything from 30min to 2h
- Total sleep per every 24h should be of 12-15h
- Night sleep should be of 10-11h
Here's an average schedule that B does:
6:00am: Wake
7:00am: Feed
8:30am: Nap
9:15am: Wake
10:00am: Feed
12:00pm: Nap
12:45pm: Awake + Feed
4:00pm: Feed + Nap
5:00pm: Awake
7:00pm: Feed
7:30pm: Night Routine
8:00pm: Feed + Sleep
12:00am: Night Feed
3:00am: Night Feed
5:00am: Night Feed
Yes! Beckham still wakes at night. His sleep regression is over but on average he wakes around 3 times at night. Which is NORMAL. I want to highlight the fact that you don't NEED to sleep train, babies eventually sleep through the night on their own. Each at its own pace and rhythm.
He now transitioned to 3 naps only (last month he was doing 3 or 4 naps) not because his naps are longer necessarily (they still are around 30min-45min on average, with some exceptions of 1h, 1.5h at random times) but because his awake windows are always longer now!
He is now waking at 6am sharp, and going to bed at 8-830pm like before.
As for food, this is the last month he is exclusively breastfeeding as we are introducing solids + water at 6 months! So he is still nursing every 2-3h day and night. Which is totally normal too.
Lately, he has also been on a very similar schedule every day, creating it on his own (Sofia did the same thing and by 6 months she did a consistently timed schedule of 3 naps) so I feel like in a couple of weeks, he will definitely be on a set pattern for good, which makes things easier in the sense that I can plan ahead better. By then, naps also grow in length, and that's when I definitely plan to transfer him to crib naps always, except when on-the-go which I plan to still do on weekends as it works for our lifestyle!
Let me know if you have any questions regarding his schedule!
