Due Date? What to Expect & What to Do During The Waiting Game

Due dates are NOT an eviction notice!! They are an estimate & hands down, you are NOT "passed due" if you pass it.

In fact, most moms go into labor (naturally, without induction) between 40w4d and 41w. “Past the due date”.

Due dates are also often miss calculated.

Plus, very baby and every body can be ready at completely different times too! And only 4-5% of the babies are born ON their due DATE.

So, instead of thinking you are due by a certain DAY. I always say, know that baby will most likely come anytime from 37-42 weeks. Be ready by 37, but don’t expect baby to to come until 41-42, and allow them to surprise you before then!

Because it’s better to be surprised than the anxiety of the waiting game, and remember, in order to go into labor you do need to be RELAXED. So that stress of waiting & anticipating doesn’t help at all!Something else I like to recommend (to not go crazy during the “waiting game”) is to have plans. Some women like to clear their calendars of activities after week 38 expecting baby to come anytime, making the waiting game feel so much longer with empty days. So: make plans! Absolutely everyone will understand if you need to cancel because you went into labor. Don’t worry about it.

My favorite plans to have during the last weeks?

  • Any work to finish

  • Home projects

  • Massage

  • Acupuncture

  • Reflexology

  • Hair

  • Nails

  • Friend coffee dates

  • Partner dates

  • Long walks with a podcast

  • Facial

And, these activities are exactly what I have planned during the next two weeks (and tbh I’m very much looking forward some much deserved pampering at this stage of pregnancy everything feels extra amazing and needed 😅)

FOR REFERENCE:

Sofia: due January 22nd came exactly a week prior on January 15th (not induced)

Beckham: due July 2nd came a week + a day prior on June 24th (not induced)

Will baby # 3 also be born at 39 weeks sharp?
