One of my new year's goals was to organize some of the spaces in my home that were super unorganized. As soon as I got back to LA after my holiday travels, I reached out to Dany from Spatial Soulutions to make sure that got done, or else I would have postponed it like I have been doing!
I chose to start with two spaces that were really tough for me to figure out:
Underneath the sink in my bathroom. That space was completely not utilized (so much space that went to waste) and, super unorganized. And Sofia's nursery dresser drawers, where I had been tossing things in without any type of organization, mainly because baby clothes are so tiny that they are hard to keep folded and in place.
I knew Dany was great because my friend Remi had hired her to do her entire new house! So I decided to start with these two spaces that needed work urgently, and that were so hard for me to do on my own.
I was super excited to get things going but, I was also dreading it as I knew it would be a lot of work. Luckily, Dany was incredible, she made the whole process smooth and easy.
To start off I had to send her photos of the spaces so she knew what I organizing items I needed. She created a cart and account for me from The Container Store, and I logged in just to check out the items she selected and have them ship to my home. Once the items got here she came over and we got to work.
She ordered more items than the ones needed because she wanted to test things out, mix and match options, see what flowed better, and see what was the best choice for each of the spaces, depending on the type of clothes and products that I had. Not only that, but we also went through everything I had in each space and decided what I should keep, and what I should donate (she has an incredible resource donation guide so nothing goes to waste). The organizing items that we did not use (50%) were easily returned to The Container Store and I got a refund, of course.
I love how it turned out, so organized, flowy and functional. You can see a video of the whole process below. I personally feel so much better when things are in the right place, and it makes me keep it that way when there's a spot dedicated for each item. Easy to put back where it belongs. Perfectly picked by Dany's spatial intuition.
