Utilize Social Media To Boost Your Brand

Updated: Oct 3, 2018

Everyone knows that Social Media increases a company's sales and consumer base. Not only do you promote your service or product, but you are also able to gather powerful feedback information that will help you improve and grow. If you don't have the budget to hire a team like us to manage your SM platforms, here are top tips that can be helpful for your company or personal brand:

1. Be consistent: on your message and how frequently you use the platform. Make a plan and stick to it. For example, I post for my clients around 9am or 1p (depending on their target) and for my personal account once per day, around 10a-12p daily. Followers expect my posts!

2. Not all networks have to share the same content, optimize each platform differently. Don't post the same thing at the same time throughout. Understand the platform differences.

3. Focus and push those networks that really work well for your brand/product. Find out what works for your specific type of business and your specific type of customer and explore that platform fully.

4. Use social media to amplify all of your business and marketing efforts. Boost promotions, sales, deals & events. Ex: the sponsored posts on FB to reach a new target, use swipe up links to re-direct followers to event RSVPs, have influencers share their experience and tag your account redirecting traffic to your page...

5. Make sure that your content aligns with your message. Don't be tempted to sell and simply get attention, some important content won't be popular, but you still need to post it. Find a balance between popularity and business.

6. Always stay up to date on what is happening: top hashtags for your industry, best times, what is going on with the current algorythm, what's trending (topics & images), what gets to the explorer page...

7. Know how to direct your message to your target demographic. If you have a product that will be consumed by teenagers, your language and vibeill need to be fresh, fun, upbeat.

8. Know how to cross promote with the right accounts to engage with new potential followers and grow your reach. Local businesses, other influencers with the same target, etc.

9. Use the same filters to keep a consistent branding throughout and a more attractive gallery.

10. Get inspired by what others are doing but keep true to your plan, your asthetic, your goals, your message.

11. Don't buy likes, followers or automated likes: It will bite you in the A$$ and it is SO noticable it is ridiculous. I can tell right away!

12. Don't do hidden giveaways, it is also extremely noticeable and you won't be hitting your target demographic, instead, your followers will become less targeted which is not good for your business or influencer reach.

13. Create a number plan/strategy/goal, for example I do the below:

- 2 blog posts weekly (minimum)

- 6 IG posts weekly (1 x day and may take a day off)

- Stories daily

14. Never overwhelm. Short stories. Content variation. Photo style variation. Don't add too many swipe ups. Don't do too many sponosred posts. Don't tag too many accounts.

15. Show your personality. If you are a brand, you can share memes and jokes, you can share style & decor inspo, quotes, etc. This will be strategically directed to your target demographic, THEIR personality. NOT the personality of the social media strategist. If you are an influencer, show YOUR personality and the right people will follow.

16. Treat it like a business. Whether it is business or personal, create a calendar and plan ahead, know your topics ahead of time, plan your texts, be on the constant search for inspo.

17. Always engage with your followers: like/respond to comments, respond DMs, ask questions on stories, let them ask you questions and respond their answers there too, create polls, ask them for their opinion on posts... After all, their opinion is what matters the most, you do want to know it and this will also help you create better targeted content for them.

Your professional social media site is supposed to be about your business or personal brand, you need to have a little bit of both and mix the more fun side that wants popularity with the serious and informative side that boosts the reputation of your business.

You may be tempted to deliver a post that simply gets a lot of attention, but that will do nothing for your brand if you don’t make sure that the content aligns with your message. Everything needs to fit within your brand identity and promote what it is that you're trying to say to the world.
